Nightmare Before Christmas cakes are good choices for Halloween. The hit movie has inspired a lot of cake designers, so there is no shortage of ideas on what you can do.

Nightmare Before Christmas Theme Cake Designs

Find plenty of inspiration for a Halloween or Christmas cake using inspiration from Nightmare Before Christmas characters.

Jack Skellington Cake

One of the easiest Nightmare Before Christmas cakes you can make is one with Jack's face. All you have to do is create a round cake, any size you wish, and cover it in white decorator icing. You can even use vanilla icing you find at the grocery store. After that, draw Jack's features in the icing using a toothpick. Then fill in the features with dark chocolate icing using a piping bag.

Oogie Boogie Cake

Since the main villain in the movie, Mr. Oogie Boogie, is pretty sloppy in appearance, this is a great cake to enlist your children's help with. To make Oogie, first bake a rectangular sheet cake. Then, using a picture as a guide, cut around the outside to form a head and arms. This will be easier if you freeze the cake first. Lastly, frost the cake with greenish brown icing, not worrying if it is uneven. Draw in Oogie's features with black icing and add gummy worms, candy bugs or anything else gross you can imagine.

Multi-Character Cake

If you're shopping at a cake store, a craft store or even a toy store during the month of October, you're sure to spot licensed characters you can put on your Nightmare Before Christmas cake. Then all you have to do is make a Halloween dirt cake and put your characters in place in the cemetery. If you'd like to add a whole lot of characters, just make your cake bigger. You don't want it to be too cluttered, as this can detract from its appearance. Also, try to get your characters to be approximately the same size, if possible.

Get More Design Ideas

If none of these ideas suit your fancy, get creative! Watch the movie again, and pause on some of your favorite scenes. Make a quick sketch to create a basic design plan, and then work on bringing it to life.
